During the first wave of the Covid-19 pandemic, PBL contributed to the emergency by leveraging its skills and know-how to design and manufacture a cheap but effective mechanical ventilator: the ABU v01. The entire process, which also includes the CE mark, took less than 2 months.
ABU v01 is a CE-marked medical device that transforms the traditional AMBU device into a real Assist-Control Ventilator (ACV) and Pressure-Support Ventilator (PSV), for ICU, through the implementation of advanced flow and pressure sensors and a high-precision feedback system. ABU can be used for both invasive and non-invasive (NIV) ventilation. The device can automate the ventilation process by operating the traditional AMBU system.
